Yes, the frost plug heaters are a little tougher to install because you need to remove a frost plug on the engine block to install it. There is a possibility that if you install a frost plug heater it will leak. You might be able to pinch off the lower radiator hose to keep the anitfreeze in the radiator, but the easyest way is to drain the system. They are called freeze plugs because when the coolant/anti-freeze freezes it expands in the block. Theoretically, the freeze plug will pop out of the block, preventing a cracked block.
