WebbI've been trying to wrap my head around the differences between two very similarly-used suffixes in medical terminology: -osis (psych osis, campylobacteri osis, etc) and -iasis (giard iasis, enterolith iasis, etc). As far as I know, these suffixes are both used to describe abnormal conditions in general and almost seem interchangeable to use.
